Hello and welcome.
I am Sally Porter, currently based in Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsula and working as a Photographer.  I love landscape and nature photography, however, I also have experience in weddings, child and family portraits and pet photography. With a background in outdoor education and aviation, finding unique and interesting locations inspires me in my photography.  I love to capture the unique moments at events and bring out the fun while doing photography sessions.

I grew up on a farm in western Victoria, Australia. This amazing childhood leads me to a great love for nature and the outdoors.  This passion has followed me through my life.
I studied to be a pilot straight out of school and during the years I spent flying, I took my camera with me and developed more as a photographer. While I loved flying and the opportunity to discover the expanses of regional Australia, flying was not my first passion, so I looked to explore other passions that were closer to my heart, so I went to work overseas in the outdoor education industry.  Again, I took more time to photograph my adventures, travelling throughout Europe doing a multitude of different jobs. My passion for photography grew as my life experience grew.
My great grandmother, Ester Baylis, was a well known Photographer in the 1920s. Her family was based in Adelaide, South Australia and I have enjoyed exploring her legacy, as she was the only other photographer I was aware of in the family. Her travels and photography took her to many places around the world. Inspired by this, I decided to follow in her footsteps. I packed up my camera and went exploring major parts of Europe with the intention of recreating her journey and recapturing the images she took.
I have studied photography and took intense workshops around the world. I thoroughly enjoyed honing my craft from some of the leading landscape photographers, including Alex Aimard in Norway and William Patino in New Zealand.
There are so many locations I have been to that have inspired me over the years, however, I have since returned home to Australia to be ‘closer to my family. I have now decided to help people learn more photography skills and show off the beautiful area that I live.
My new home, the Fleurieu Peninsula, is one of South Australia's most diverse regions with a rugged cliff-lined coast, sand dune lined beaches and native forest reserves. It has a huge range of wildlife as well as a rich history of Indigenous and English settlements.  My wish is to share the locations and the history with visitors while teaching them how to take their photo skills from "point and shoot" to "competent " photographers. Please click on the Tours link on the home page to find out more about this.
My images are available as prints. If you would like any of them, I will work with you to provide personal print and framing options that will suit you and your space.
Thank you for visiting.
